A Day Of Service At Dyer Park

Elleson Mccumber, a student at The Benjamin School, hosted a Day of Service at Dyer Park. Elleson recruited students from the school and visited our facility to assist with programs. The group assisted the junior classes, special needs participants, learned about teaching kids how to play golf, and helped maintain the facility by filling divots and picking up stray balls, broken tees, and trash off of the driving range.

Beaver Students Are On Fire!

Preston McGhan, Coach Glen’s youngest golfer, is beginning to throw his hat into the competitive golf arena. He started playing the Links Tour for fun and will be starting private lessons soon. He has a long and bright future ahead of him.

While it is great to medal, sometimes it is better to compete and learn more about your game. Danny Tadeo and Mateo Muñiz were disappointed in the outcome of their rounds, but we are glad to hear of their constructive feedback about their gameplay. Neither had excuses, instead, each of them walked away with an improvement plan.

We have another student joining the world of competitive golf. Congratulations Kaden Shabaj!! You have a lot of talent, and you can go very far.

DeMarco Satterfield set a goal to start playing tournaments this year. While his first tournament did not go as well as he hoped, we are very proud of DeMarco for competing in his first tournament.

We captured a candid moment! Judah Lang carded his first Birdie in tournament play this month.

Elise Mucklow had to miss some golf classes because she was preparing to compete in Robotics tournaments. On March 22nd, she was asked to sing the National Anthem at the FIRST Robotics competition at UCF. She is a young woman of many talents.

Spring Break With PAL

During the week of Spring Break, PBSO PAL offered a Go Golf Day at Dyer Park. PAL gathered 70 kids from their programs for a day of golf and fun. All the kids played golf games and worked on their putting, chipping, and full swing. The group then had a well-deserved lunch and ended the day with frozen treats from Kona Ice.

Wylie Continues Great Play

In March, for the second time this season, Wylie posted a 2nd place showing in an FSGA Florida Junior Tour event at the Sandridge Exempt Only tournament in Vero Beach with rounds of 76 and the lowest round of the tournament of any player with a 68.

Wylie continued his strong play in April at the FJT Highlands Ridge tournament in Avon Park with a T4th place finish after rounds of 75 and one under 71.  The course played at over 7,000 yards.

“He just turned 16 and is competing with the older players for a victory in the 16-18-year-old division,” said Carl Mistretta, Chapter Executive Director.  “He is working very hard and knows he can win at this level.  It is only a matter of time. His goal of playing DI golf is right on schedule.  Like anything in life, work really hard and it pays off.”

Alumnae Attend MMI Summit

Savannah Mansueti and Nyla Sims, distinguished alumnae of our chapter, recently embarked on a transformative journey through the Leadership Pathway program at the 2024 MMI Summit in Miami, FL.

Selected as representatives of the National First Tee Alumni Program, they ventured into an experience that not only enriched their leadership skills but also expanded their professional networks.  Networking proved to be instrumental throughout the program.

When asked about recommending this opportunity to other First Tee alumni, Mansueti and Sims wholeheartedly endorsed it. “The summit offered us invaluable resources, presentations, and networking opportunities,” said Mansueti.  “This program will significantly benefit us during these early stages of our careers, particularly in the finance realm.”

Both Savannah and Nyla are full-time employees of our Chapter. Savannah is the Manager of Operations and Nyla is our Program Coordinator.

Mocs Win For 4th Time

Florida Southern men’s golf goes wire-to-wire to win the team’s fourth tournament of the year at the Battle in the Desert at the Rams Hills Golf Club in Borrego Springs, California. The Moccasins posted four of their five players in the top-25 of the 80-player field.

Florida Southern, went coast-to-coast both in flight and on the course to capture the team’s fourth tournament title, tying for second-most in a single season in program history. Can the Mocs tie the record of five tournaments from the 1998-99 and 1999-2000 seasons?

Chapter alumni Tyler Mistretta closed the tournament with a one-over 73 for a tournament score of 217 (+1). He tied for 12th overall in the individual division.
