COACH KEVIN AT SAILFISH SANDS

Coach Kevin Perkins has been a First Tee Coach for over 10 years and is a PGA Master Professional. We are delighted to have coaches like him delivering our life skills curriculum and building future game changers in our community.

Through his engaging coaching style, Coach Kevin inspires youth to tap into their potential and cultivate essential qualities such as resilience, integrity, and teamwork. His approach to coaching is not just about perfecting a swing; it’s about building character and shaping future leaders in our community.

SWINGING FOR HEROES

Jensen Beach Golf Club proudly hosts a special golf class for our local veterans led by Coach Wayne Huffines. Our veterans’ programs, designed to honor and support those who have served, offer a unique opportunity for our nation’s heroes to receive personalized golf instruction. Veterans are guided through the fundamental techniques and advanced strategies, tailored to all skill levels. Following the instructional session, participants have the chance to put their newfound skills to the test on the golf course. The classes are filled with camaraderie and learning, creating a vibrant and supportive atmosphere on the greens.

Army veteran Marc Iverson, a new member of Coach Wayne’s veterans’ golf class, shared his enthusiasm for golf and its impact on his life:  “Golf has been a humbling and joyful experience for me,” Marc said with a smile. “It’s a beautiful game that teaches patience and perseverance, qualities that resonate deeply with my military background. This class has not only helped me refine my skills but also provided a supportive community where I feel truly valued. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally.”

Sponsor Spotlight: THE SHORES OF NORTH RIVER GOLF CLUB

Last year, we met the owners of The Shores of North River Golf Club to ask if they would host First Tee programs.  We were so impressed with their facility and commitment to the community that we moved our main office for Martin County to their golf club.  Check out our newly renovated headquarters in the picture above.

We had a very successful summer camp and are now hosting weekly programs at The Shores.  The golf course is fun and enjoyable for both adults and children.  The Shores also offers a driving range, instruction and is a great spot for lunch!

BEAVER GOLF KIDS ON A ROLL

Coach Glen Beaver’s students continue to have fabulous success.

Mateo won an SFPGA Prep Tour tournament at PGA National-Estates Course. Mateo tied for first, shooting a one under 71. It was a scorcher!

Abriella won first place in the Palm Beach County Junior Golf Tournament. She competed in the Experienced 6-9 Division which included boys and girls at Osprey Point Golf Course.

Xander finished in a tie for second place in a SFPGA Links Tour Tournament at Eaglewood in Hobe Sound. He has worked so hard and persevered through so many mental challenges in this game. We are extremely proud of him.

FIRST TEE LEADERSHIP SUMMIT

Marcus Irene from Nancy Stuart’s program at John Prince Park attended the First Tee Leadership Summit in partnership with PGA TOUR Superstore. This trip builds on the 5-week local Leadership Series and is designed for teens to explore leadership concepts including (1) building authentic relationships by developing awareness, (2) growing through challenge via positive risk taking, and (3) developing positive self-identity through dynamic outdoor and team building activities.

Set in the unforgettable backdrop of West Creek Ranch in Montana, each teen is challenged to build on their current strengths and values in an intimate setting which provides community building, inspiration and connection with their peers, adult mentors, and the outdoors. Activity-based workshops are facilitated by leaders from PGA TOUR Superstore headquarters, West Creek Ranch, and First Tee headquarters.
