DELICIOUS LUNCH HOSTED BY THE COOPER RESTAURANT

Our Chapter recently hosted a lunch event at The Cooper Restaurant on PGA Boulevard. Our Directors and staff wondered how the event would go as this was our first lunch gathering. The answer was FANTASTIC!! Over 60 guests were in attendance with not a seat left in the house. “We had many new faces join us,” said Eddy Slotnick, Chapter Director. “Our new friends came for the great food at The Cooper, but left with a much better understanding of the programs of The First Tee and the people we serve in our community.” The lunch featured Chapter speakers representing our life skills, Veterans and special needs programs to educate the audience on our mission and programs. Special thanks to Eddy Slotnick and Rich Rosenthal from The Cooper (pictured above). The event also raised over $2,000 for our students and Veterans. BILLY REID HELPS UNVEIL THE FIRST TEE INTERACTIVE GOLF EXPERIENCE

Billy demonstrated RESPONSIBILITY, COURTESY, HONESTY and INTEGRITY, four of our Nine Core Values, by turning in to police the $1,500 he found on the beach. He never expected the recognition he would receive. First, he was interviewed by local TV channel WPTV and then featured nationally on GolfChannel. He was next invited to attend THE PLAYERS Championship for a ‘sneak peek’ of The First Tee Experience with former PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem, current Commissioner Jay Monahan and The First Tee CEO Keith Dawkins (pictured above with Keith and Jay). Billy was featured in the live interview and even beat the Commissioners and Keith in a closest to the hole contest in a golf simulator. Nice shot Billy! The First Tee is transforming the way children and families experience the game with the debut of The First Tee Experience at THE PLAYERS Championship.   The week-long, interactive destination will welcome children of all ages at TPC Sawgrass in a new 5,000-square-foot, air-conditioned venue located in The McKenzie Noelle Wilson Foundation Kid Zone that features golf-themed games, golf-inspired social media activities and fun, interactive ways for fans to show off their skills and practice their trick shots. Fans can participate in scaled versions of The First Tee’s signature programs currently offered in schools, at youth centers and at golf facilities around the country and the world.   • The First Tee’s par-3 Mini-Golf Challenge
  • Interactive Nine Core Values golf tee wall
  • Virtual reality gaming area
  • The First Tee golf simulator presented by aboutGolf
  • Military Appreciation Day and Mother’s Day arts & crafts activities
  • Digital photo booths and a one-of-a-kind, golf-inspired live interactive art installation by renowned artist Bryan Blue (Blue the Great).
  • The First Tee Experience will also feature a recharge lounge for adults to watch the live feed of the tournament and get information on The First Tee and ways they can connect with a chapter in their hometown.

ADMIRALS COVE FOUNDATION CONTINUES GENEROUS SUPPORT

The Admirals Cove Foundation exists to improve lives in our surrounding community and to strengthen the community of Admirals Cove through a culture of giving. CHAPTER 2017 ANNUAL REPORT

2017 was an incredible year for our chapter. The number of children and Veterans being served has grown every year since our Chapter was founded. Our growth is due to our dedicated community partners, coaches, volunteers and physical educators who deliver the programs: our chapter staff, board members and school administrators who help lead the way; and of course, the numerous individuals, foundations and corporations who provide financial support to fund the programs. BILLY REID DEMONSTRATES HONESTY AND INTEGRITY

Thirteen members of the Teen Golf Association (TGA), a newly formed group within our Chapter, scheduled a community service day on Saturday April 14th and participated in a walk for autism awareness this past weekend. TGA member, Billy Reid, came upon what he thought was a one-hundred-dollar bill. It turned out to be much more. He found $1,500.00 in the sand! The TGA decided to look for the rightful owner. After this attempt was unsuccessful they found a police officer, told the story and turned in the money. At The First Tee, students are taught our Nine Core Values, including Honesty and Integrity. The First Tee of The Palm Beaches Young Professionals invites you to join our network of active Palm Beach County based individuals dedicated to the mission of The First Tee. The Young Professionals supports The First Tee of The Palm Beaches through fundraising, volunteer efforts, and by broadening awareness in the Palm Beach area as ambassadors of our local chapter. EDNA W. RUNNER TUTORIAL CENTER VISITS FINNEGAN LEARNING CENTER

50 Senior Citizens from the Edna W. Runner Tutorial Center visited our golf facility and enjoyed a morning of golf, fellowship and good food. We also conduct a program for their youth participants during the summer. “This is our third year inviting them out to the facility, and they had a blast,” said Jack Barrett – Chapter Development Director. Thank you to Chapter Director Maria Marino who made the introduction and secures program funding through the Jupiter Children’s Foundation.

HENDEL, ROTHBERG & FINNEGANS JOIN THE INAUGURAL 1457 CLASS

In 2017, our Chapter unveiled a new planned giving program to support our mission and programs. Planned giving is an important aspect of our overall fund raising strategic plan and provides a simple solution for our long-time donors to assist the students of tomorrow through their estate, IRA or insurance policies. The parents of Michael Finnegan, Beverly & Frank Finnegan and Michael’s wife, Erin Finnegan with her beautiful family, also joined the inaugural class. The Finnegan Foundation is a Founding Partner of our Chapter. “Members of The Society of 1457 are our most ardent supporters and community leaders demonstrating through generosity how to ensure our growth for years to come,” said Chapter Executive Director Carl Mistretta. “Planned giving will be our most important fundraising component to help develop the future leaders of Palm Beach County.” Most people do not realize that mandatory IRA distributions at age 70½ and older can be donated tax free to charity.
