100 – Hole Challenge Time! Who Is In?

Last year we had 63 players and raised $100,000 with over 900 donors to support the thousands of children and veterans in our Broward County programs. Our goal this year is to raise $120,000. We currently stand at $67,000 raised from over 600 donors.

For every $100 donated, donors will be entered to win a 3-night stay at the Lodge at Pebble Beach (includes two Garden View rooms) and a foursome to play one round at Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill Golf Course. The prize package also includes $1,500 towards airfare, trip expenses, etc. Certain restrictions apply. Drawing to be held February 27, 2023. Winner will book their trip directly with Pebble Beach Resorts. The winning certificate does not expire, and the golf and room rates are valid for one year.  For example: $300 donation = 3 chances to win.

Ryan Has Great Time At Pebble

For the last 19 years, the PURE Insurance Championship has welcomed teens from First Tee chapters nationwide to Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill Golf Course. Throughout the week the teens apply the life and leadership skills learned from First Tee programs during an event where they are paired with a PGA TOUR Champions player and amateurs from the business world.

Chapter student Ryan Shimony had the trip of a lifetime.  He was our sixth Chapter student to play in the event. The tournament is a 54-hole golf event, featuring PGA TOUR Champions professionals, First Tee juniors, and amateurs. Ryan was paired with PGA TOUR Champions player Cliff Kresge.

“It was the greatest week of my life,” said Ryan.  “The staff and coaches who have been tried to tell me how incredible this trip would be for me and my mom.  It was even better.  We were treated just like the golf professionals and there were fun events outside of the golf for the students.  We played rounds of golf at Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill in a televised tournament!”

VETERAN SPOTLIGHT

Willie J. Bell, III, U.S. Navy veteran, has been playing golf for 34 years. He joined our 8-week program at Eagle Trace – Coral Springs.

I enjoy the comradery of the group of veterans with whom I play. It seems as if we have known each other for years.  I can truly say that without First Tee, I would not be playing golf today.  I thank all the coaches and staff who give of their time and talents to make me a much better golfer and increased my love of the game of golf.”
