96 participants from 63 First Tee chapters around the country, including Chapter Eagle student Jacie Goodman, recently attended the Joe Louis Barrow, Jr. Life Skills & Leadership Academy in Boise. Hosted by The First Tee home office, the academy recognized and rewarded exceptional teen participants who are preparing to build upon leadership skills introduced through programs at The First Tee chapters.

Top coaches in The First Tee’s network delivered the golf and leadership instruction that incorporate The First Tee’s values and life skills in a concentrated, week-long event. Participants developed skills preparing them for success beyond the golf course. They experienced championship golf, career exploration, dorm living at Boise State University and meeting other teens from around the country sharing golf as their common bond.

“What an amazing opportunity to travel all the way to Boise, Idaho. I met so many new friends and I played some great golf too,” said Jacie.  “We visited all these fun places like Jump where we learned about team building and listened to inspirational speakers who gave us some great advice. This week in Boise was one of the best of my life and I am so grateful to have been apart of it, with all those wonderful coaches, chaperones, and players. The best thing about this trip was gaining free yardage from the elevation difference! The weather was truly beautiful and I fell in love with Boise, Idaho. Not to mention I now enjoy eating baked potatoes. Thank you First Tee.”
