Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are at the core of First Tee identity and essential to our continued success as an organization. The purpose of increasing diversity is to ensure it is part of the fabric of our organizational culture in all aspects of the business. This is not a project, program or series of events, but an expression of who we are and an intentional process to ensure that our mission is fulfilled.

What is Diversity within First Tee?

Diversity is the variety of similar and different characteristics among people, including age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, thinking style, geography, socio-economic background and all other attributes that make each person unique.

Since our founding, First Tee has focused on increasing the participation of females and ethnic minorities in the game of golf through character education. This emphasis will continue and broaden to keep pace with changing demographics.

Society bears the marks of prejudice and injustice, even today. The events over the last week are disturbing and heartbreaking on so many levels. I wish we could shield today’s young people from it, and yet, it’s all around them. As a community of caring adults who come together in support of the next generation, it’s our responsibility to ensure kids build the confidence to find their voice, their footing, and stand up for what is right, even when it’s hard. Our character is a compass, and it is the source of our words, thoughts and actions. Strong character stands against injustice. As we grieve the events happening around us, we have to lead the next generation to higher ground.
