We have been offered an incredible opportunity to volunteer at the upcoming Champions Tour event at Broken Sound in Boca Raton.  This is also a great opportunity to introduce high school and college students to the arena of professional golf. The Oasis Championship at Broken Sound is looking for Pro-Am assistance, standard bearers and leaderboards attendants from February 4-10 with the Pro-Ams early in the week followed by the televised tournament days. CLUBS DRIVE IN PROGRESS

Time to clean out the trunk and the garage and donate all of that unused golf equipment! We are proud to support our local chapter of The First Tee. Each year, The First Tee of The Palm Beaches reaches thousands of young people in Palm Beach County, including those with special needs, and Veterans. The First Tee is a youth development program that teaches a valuable Life Skills curriculum with golf as the method of delivery. From February 23rd to March 9th we are conducting a CLUB DRIVE to support the chapter. If you have any clubs, bags, shoes or new clothes that you are not currently using, please consider donating them to The First Tee of The Palm Beaches. Please bring your clubs and bags to the cart staging area and our staff will collect your donations. Your donation is tax deductible and we will give you an IRS receipt letter for your tax return. Thank you for your support! Club Drives are easy. Everything needed for a Club Drive is already prepared for you below: – CLICK HERE for the Club Drive sign to post in the pro shop, men’s and women’s locker rooms, cart area, etc. – CLICK HERE for the receipt letter for anyone that requests it. GIVING BACK TO A MIDDLE SCHOOL GOLF TEAM IN WEST VIRGINIA

A few years ago, Chapter Director and Treasurer, Mitch Stump, connected us with his hometown middle school golf team, Calhoun Middle High School. Since then, we have donated many sets of newly gripped clubs, golf bags & shoes, golf clothing, and 48 dozen golf balls. “We ended up doubling our players this year to 10 players. My big goal for our second season was to get more girls involved and we ended being successful! Thanks again for the contribution to the team this season and we look forward to the coming years.” said Matt Walker, Calhoun Middle High School Health Teacher.

STACI ATTENDS THE FIRST TEE OF GREATER NEW ORLEANS TOURNAMENT

Chapter Eagle participant, Staci Pla, attended The First Tee of Greater New Orleans National Tournament. Staci finished in 5th place with a 36-hole score of 77- 87. “I loved my time in New Orleans, it was a great experience! I met so many amazing people and the activities away from the golf course opened my eyes to new culture. Thank you to The First Tee of The Palm Beaches for the opportunity,” said Staci. The event kicked off with a Welcome Dinner featuring PGA Tour Player Morgan Hoffmann. Throughout the four days, social activities were organized for the participants to meet others from across the country.

LINUS JOINS PGA HOPE VETERANS AT EASTPOINT COUNTRY CLUB

Chapter participant, Linus Castro, joined the PGA Hope Veterans for a round of golf at Eastpoint Country Club over the holiday break. At just 6 years old, Linus showed off his fantastic talents with our local veterans alongside to cheer him on. “I wanted to thank our Veterans for keeping us safe. I love to play golf and they all have good swings,” said Linus after the round.

TEEN GOLFERS ASSOCIATION 2018 YEAR OVERVIEW

In January 2018 the Teen Golfers Association (TGA) was launched by Emily Valentine and Quinn Reid with a mission of engaging chapter teenagers through fundraising, volunteer efforts, and by broadening awareness in the Palm Beach area as ambassadors to our local chapter. Throughout the year, the TGA directors (pictured above left) organized a series of social events including: Ice skating, mini-golf, Bowling, and Glow Golf throughout the year. TGA Members also volunteered at The Honda Classic by collecting one-dollar donations to benefit our Chapter. We finished out the year with a total of 54 TGA members! THE FIRST TEE INVITATIONAL AT THE HONDA CLASSIC

The Monday after The Honda Classic, the Champion Course is yours for the taking! This is your chance to experience what PGA TOUR professionals do on Championship Sunday. The Champion Course will be set up in the same condition with the same pin placements as it was for the final Sunday tournament round the day before our event. Monday, March 4, 2019 Time: 8:00 am Shotgun Start – Limited Field Location: PGA National Resort & Spa – Champion Course Format: 18 Holes, Two Players per team – Best Ball Team Event Prizes will be awarded for Gross and Net Divisions Tees:  Don’t worry, we do not play the TOUR Tees! (Special tee locations will be assigned for Seniors, Ladies and Juniors) ENTRY FEE & REGISTRATION $675 per person / $1,350 per team. Entry fee must accompany the registration form. Your tournament Entry Fee in includes greens fee, cart, practice balls, continental breakfast, awards luncheon, gift bag and a Honda Classic tournament hospitality. Each team member receives one (1) Champions Club credential providing access to the Champions Club hospitality pavilion (which includes food and beverages) for one weekend day of their choice at The Honda Classic, plus one preferred parking pass.
